FARM HOUSE Youth Housing

The challenge was to build a replicable co-living housing concept for first, the young, second, the migrants/locals and third, the working population of 20-35 years of age which, worked on cyclic leasing for durations longer/shorter than rental cycles and would give them enough headspace to build their career and move. The proposal was designed by Tiago Costa, Daniel Sutandio and Amelia Aussie during the course of two months and submitted in June of 2019. Farm House is a housing project that was focused on extendibility, economic efficiency, and sustainability. As the name reflects, this building was a combination of housing and urban farming. Tenants could rent only the space they needed to reduce the rent price, while the rest of the space that was not rented would be used for crops production. This urban farming crops production also created part-time job opportunities for the tenants, as well as providing them with the food supply they needed and that could be purchased at the fresh market at the ground floor. This process created a circular economy cycle between the building owner/management and housing owner/ tenant.
