CITY AS SCHOOL AND SCHOOL AS CITY BY MAHDIEH NASIRI

Bazaar is a Persian word for a place that the action of exchange happens in two different ways. One way is bartering and the other is purchasing through money. In the past bazaar was the heart of the city because of its role as a junction of social, political, cultural, economic, and civic interactions. It played a centric role in the social structure of the city through providing space not only for trading but for a strongly interactive public space for meeting people, seeing and being seen.

The main elements of bazaar structure are shops, bazaar streets, courtyards and resting spaces where Caravansary is for the public and saray for the merchants. The inner organization of the bazaar is based on the concept of guild so the people who are involved with the same kind of business or craft are located in the same place. The way in which the main elements of the bazaar interact along the inner quality of the guild creates a space with the possibility of highest variety and a unique unity at the same time.
